Mini-Graduation and More for the German Academy
Location: Saint Michael’s College
What the German Academy did today: We’re down to our last few classes here at the German Academy! Since Monday, the students have taken the STAMP test, resumed lessons, participated in cultural activities, and enjoyed a mini-graduation ceremony. During their party, they played self-created board games and indulged in delicious snacks like fresh fruits and popcorn. Lots of fun! Tonight, they will present what they’ve been working on for the World Expo. We are super excited to see what they’ve come up with and share with family and friends this evening!
In our classrooms…
Level 1 students practiced identifying typical weather during an event. As a group, they created recaps of field trips and activities during the Academy to describe what the weather was like throughout each event. Then, they created classroom gazettes of what they’ve been up to this summer!
In Level 2 classes, students are working on “identifying and naming 3-5 major environmental problems confronting the world today, and the target country/countries in particular.” Students discussed the meaning of environment, talked about environmental challenges in Germany, and created an environmental campaign to promote the preservation of our environment.
Similarly, our Level 3 students learned how to “explain one to three rules, policies, or laws that exist in a target country to protect its environment. They read articles, watched videos, and created their own presentations for potential regulations/promotions of environmental protection.
