Dance Party and Fruity Mocktails
What the Academy did today:
This morning during class sessions, students endured another day of STAMP exams, but had a flamenco workshop during the last period! Flamenco dancer Yolanda Matarán came to the Granada Academy to give a talk about the rhythms and clapping patterns of Spanish flamenco. Students practiced keeping up with clapping patterns led by Yolanda, and learned that it’s harder than it looks!
After lunch, students had the option of a few hours by the pool, or doing a cultural activity. Students who opted out of the pool went on cultural outings. Javier led a group of students to tour the monasteries of Granada, as well as the city’s main library. Meanwhile RA Antonio took a group on a gourmet tour. Students bought some typical sweets, like chocolate empanadas, at the Convento Isabel la Real, and afterwards visited the church of Sanituario de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro. Those who preferred the pool enjoyed their usual pizzas and ice creams at the bar, and got their dose of vitamin D.
Tonight the Academy had a fiesta in the colegio’s patio! Students celebrated by making fruit mocktails with names reflecting some recurring jokes within the Granada Academy, like “Mucho Fuego” and “Un Reporte.” There was also a salsa lesson for those interested, and open dance floor at the end!
The days are counting down for the Granada Academy, but we are still making memories here!
