What the Salamanca Academy did today: The last Cultural Exploration Class consisted of learning about popular Hispanic celebrations and visiting Salamanca’s Trade Museum. The group spent their last recess at the school sharing snacks with the Spanish Ambassadors and getting ready to say good-bye to the program.

In the afternoon, students had time to rest, pack or go to the city center for some last-minute shopping.

What the Salamanca Academy did today: In this morning’s assembly, mentors informed students about our field trip to La Alberca and made sure they had all of the information needed before we take off tomorrow morning. Afterwards, students spent the morning in Spanish and Cultural Exploration Class.

What the Salamanca Academy did today: One of this morning’s Cultural Exploration Classes consisted of working on an arts & crafts workshop: students built characters and scenery from legends of Salamanca and acted out the fables. During the other Cultural Exploration Class, students visited the “Convento de San Esteban”, a Dominican monastery located in the city center.

What the Salamanca Academy did today: One of this morning's Cultural Exploration Classes consisted of riding around the city center on Salamanca's famous "trenecito", while the other walked down near the Tormes River and learned about "El Lazarillo de Tormes", a Spanish picaresque novel, whose protagonist was born in Salamanca.

Assemblies, Mentor/Student Check-ins and an Array of Games and Workshops

What the Salamanca Academy did today: Today was a busy day for MIL Academy participants! After our morning assembly, students spent their morning in class expanding their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture.

During the afternoon, they attended our Academic Assembly and displayed projects that they had prepared with our Spanish teachers. Then, they proceeded to individually check in with the mentors and talk about their week in the academy.

What the Salamanca Academy did today: This morning students had very active and productive Cultural Exploration Classes! They worked on projects about the geography, history, music and languages of the Andean Mountain Range; took a Flamenco and Sevillanas master class and took part in a gymkhana based on traditional games. MIL Academy participants are having a great time learning about different cultures, music and traditions.

What the Salamanca Academy did today: This morning during Cultural Exploration Class, students jammed to songs in Spanish like the “Aserejé” and even created different choreographies.

Monuments, Academic Assembly, and Endless Workshops and Activities

What the Salamanca Academy did today: After this morning's classes, during which we visited Salamanca's Cathedral Tower and the "Cueva de Salamanca", students had an activity-full afternoon. 

Firstly, we gathered together in our Friday afternoon assembly along with our Spanish teachers, and students spoke about important and eye-opening issues that they had researched such as human rights, politics and employment.
