What the Academy did today:

Today marks the final day of the MIL Granada Academy of 2019! 

Students had a special last day of classes to close the Academy.  Some groups went on class outings to reflect on their experiences, while other classes played some games.  

After having some free time to pack their bags and empty their rooms, the Academy attended the closing ceremony, followed by a farewell cocktail party!

What the Academy did today:

As the days are counting down for the Granada Academy, staff and students are trying their best to make the most out of each one!

Today, during the last hour of classes students had one-on-one interviews with their teachers to discuss their progress, and how they should proceed to keep up their level of Spanish.

What the Academy did today:

This morning during class sessions, students endured another day of STAMP exams, but had a flamenco workshop during the last period!  Flamenco dancer Yolanda Matarán came to the Granada Academy to give a talk about the rhythms and clapping patterns of Spanish flamenco.  Students practiced keeping up with clapping patterns led by Yolanda, and learned that it’s harder than it looks!

Academic Assembly and Open Mic

What the Granada Academy did today: 

This morning some students went on an optional run, and had a full morning of classes.  Maria took her class out for morning tapas, and Carmen and Marilena’s class had a debate on the ability of organic crops to sustain the world’s population.  

A Little Volunteer Work, a Little Science

What the Granada Academy did today: 

Today the Granada Academy got back out into the community. 

Similar to our last cultural exploration day, instead of class sessions, half of the Granada Academy went to the Parque de las Ciencias, and the other half did some community work with Formación Combonianos.  

An Active Hump Day

What the Granada Academy did today: 

The Granada Academy started  hump day with some exercise! To wake up, some students opted to go on a group run, or to attend a zumba class on the patio! 

It's All About the Food

What the Granada Academy did today: 

Today the Granada Academy continued with morning tapas outings!  

Pilar’s class explored the Mercado de San Augustin, an indoor market by Plaza Nueva.  Many locals go to Mercado de San Augustin to grocery shop at the meat and produce vendors, or stop in for a tapa at one of the many food stalls. Pilar’s class was able to experience the market's morning bustle first-hand! 

Back on the Monday Grind

What the Granada Academy did today: 

Today marks the beginning of the Granada Academy’s third week! 

Going with this week’s theme of food, a couple classes went out for some morning tapas!  Both Celia and Carmen’s class went around the Albaicín to practice ordering food and asking for information about items on the menus. 

Weekend Two in the Books!

What the Granada Academy did this weekend: On Saturday the Academy started their weekend with good vibes and a yoga session! 

Afterwards, students had free time in the city!  Some checked out the summer rebajas (sales), and others got a few tapas. 

After lunch, the Academy spent the afternoon chilling out by the pool, and closed the day with an outdoor movie theatre!  The cool evening temperature was perfect for a relaxing movie night.
