Why language immersion in Vermont?
Why choose to spend your summer learning a new world language in Vermont? The Language Academy’s ties to Middlebury College's renowned Language Schools in Middlebury, Vermont—and to the pedagogy and methodology utilized there—are at the heart of the Academy.
Starting in summer 2015, the Academy consolidated its U.S.-based Academies to Vermont campuses, rather than around the country as in previous summers. Now, all our U.S. immersion programs are located in Vermont in order to remain true to the experience and origins that thousands of students have enjoyed over the past 100 years at Middlebury Language Schools. Students at the Academy will visit Middlebury College while the Language Schools are in session. They’ll tour campus, stop in the bookshop and attend cultural events—all while remaining in language.
Another advantage to moving our Academies to two Vermont campuses is that we have more students in each language level on one campus, allowing beginners and proficient speakers alike to be surrounded by peers of comparable language skills in classes and in the dorms. We are also able to give a more personal experience to our students and families by capitalizing on the support and resources available through Middlebury College and our Middlebury Interactive Languages’ staff in Vermont.
Not to mention, Vermont is simply a magical place to be in the summer. Who wouldn't want to spend a few weeks of their summer experiencing campus life surrounded by the beauty of the Green Mountains?
