Arabic belongs to the Semitic group of languages and is spoken by over 300 million people across northern Africa and the Middle East. The modern written language or Modern Standard Arabic is taught in schools and institutions while the spoken language comprises several varieties and regional dialects. Modern Standard Arabic is an official language of the United Nations.

Arabic 4-Week Summer Language Academy
Middlebury Interactive offers Arabic immersion programs for students in grades 8-12 at Pomona College in California. Students take part in small classes, creative projects, sports and live performances—all in Arabic. The Arabic Academy is based on Middlebury’s long-standing tradition of immersion education.
