How is the tuition price determined?

We rent out college campuses and hire highly qualified teachers and Residential Educators to ensure that the students are receiving a quality experience, which is a large part of the tuition price. Additionally, our tuition includes all lodging, meals, instruction, field trips and cultural activities, as well as shuttle service to and from designated airports. The only money students are expected to bring is a small amount of pocket money for souvenirs. The many services provided by the program contribute to our expenses. However, we do offer financial aid for our U.S. immersion locations.

Are there tuition payment plans?

For the early, discounted prices, we do not offer payment plans since it's a pay-in-full savings deadline. Otherwise, you could certainly pay on a payment plan through May 31st when the full tuition is due. Additionally, families who apply and qualify for financial aid, lock in the tuition rate at the time when they apply, and can arrange to make tuition payment plans with our enrollment team.

How do I lock in the discounted price?

To ensure early bird pricing, you need to start the online application and pay your tuition in full before the deadline. The student essay and grades can be submitted later.

Do you offer reduced pricing for children who cannot attend to program for its full duration?

No. Students who are planning on leaving the program early to attend another summer camp or to go on family vacation will be required to pay the full tuition amount. If for some reason your child were not accepted, you would be refunded your tuition payment in full.

How is tuition billed?

We can either charge the balance to your credit card on file, or you can pay online with a different credit card or eCheck. You could also send us a paper check addressed to Middlebury Interactive Languages at:

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

U.S. Academy Locations:

  • If a student is denied acceptance into an Academy program, any payment made by the family (deposit plus tuition) will be refunded in its entirety.
  • If a student pays the deposit and then voluntarily decides not to participate in the Academy, written notice to academies@middleburyinteractive.com of the cancellation must be received by the dates listed below. There will be no refunds of any kind after May 31st.
  • There will be no refunds for students who voluntarily withdraw for any reason after the Academy has started.
  • If a student is dismissed from the Academy for any reason, no refund will be provided and the cost of transportation home within 24 hours will be the parents’ financial obligation. There will be no refund for a student who is asked to leave the Academy for the use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol, non-notification of a serious medical condition, or violating the rules of the program, which is determined at the sole discretion of the Academy staff.

Cancellation Date Refund Amount

  • Prior to April 1, 2018: Deposit and tuition, less $100 administrative fee
  • April 1–May 31, 2018: 50% tuition paid, less $395 deposit
  • After May 31st, 2018: No refund

Study Abroad Locations:

  • If a student is denied acceptance into an Academy program, any payment made by the family (deposit plus tuition) will be refunded in its entirety.
  • If a student is accepted into the program, and voluntarily declines to enroll, written notice of cancellation to academies@middleburyinteractive.com must be received before March 1st to receive a full refund of all payments, less a $100 application processing fee.
  • After March 1st, the $395 deposit is non-refundable.
  • By April 15th, 100% of all program fees must be paid and no reimbursements will be provided for families that cancel after this date.
  • If there are still spaces available and a student applies after March 15th, 100% of all program fees are required upon acceptance to the program. We ask that students applying after March 15th submit application materials (student essay and grades) in a prompt manner for timely processing.

  • March 2–April 15, 2018: All tuition paid, less $395 deposit
  • After April 15, 2018: No refund

Is the deposit refundable?

If you were to apply for financial aid and do not receive enough aid to attend, you will receive your deposit back in full.
