What the Spanish Academy did today:
What an amazing weekend! The students loved the San Fermín Festival and had a great time participating in The Running of the Bulls, gorging themselves on tapas, and dancing together in the evening. Today, they’ve had a normal day of classes and will be performing in the Spanish talent show tonight.
In Level 1 classes, students read and understood maps from Spanish-speaking cultures. Tomorrow, they’ll learn how to give simple directions with regard to distance and location.
Level 2 students learned how to identify and name a variety of countries and languages in the world. In their next class, they will learn how to ask and answer questions about some topographical and geographical features of Spanish-speaking countries and the US.
In Level 3 classrooms, students learned how to describe the geography and natural resources of Spanish-speaking countries. Tomorrow, they’ll learn how to identify the main idea and a few supporting facts in an article or other form of media related to environmental problems confronting Spanish-speaking countries.
Level 4 students are focusing on social issues and solutions, so today, they learned how to summarize stories about issues that are important to youth in Spanish-speaking countries. They also discussed their aspirations for the future. Tomorrow, they’ll be conducting research and summarizing social issues from target countries.
We can’t believe that camp is almost over. We love seeing all the progress the students have made, and we’re excited to see how much they’ll continue to make in the last week!
