Learning Spanish in Style!
Time at the Language Academy is flying- it is hard to believe we’re already entering our third week! Students who were hesitant at the beginning of the program are now speaking with much greater fluency.
Today’s theme was shopping and fashion, so we began morning assembly with a fashion show in which students were asked questions about their personal styles. Everyone was dressed muy de moda (very fashionably!) During activity time, students had a new option entitled regresa al niñez (return to childhood). This activity included watching classic Spanish cartoons, coloring elements of Spanishculture such as a bull and matador and the opportunity to play schoolyard games.
Later, in evening assembly, one class created masks to celebrate Spain’s Saint Fermin’s day. Other students presented information on the food pyramid, the history of Bolivia, original poems about celebrities and cartoon characters and much more!
The rest of this week promises to be both exciting and educational. On Wednesday, a mariachi group is coming to campus to perform, and Friday night is the World Expo: our opportunity to show the French and Chinese Academies all that we’ve learned as well as learn from them.
