Granada: Across Andalucía in Pilar's Spanish Class

“I can describe the geography and natural resources of the host country.”

June 30, 2017

Each day, Spanish language teachers at MIL focus on a goal called a “I Can” statement. Today, Pilar’s Level 3 Spanish class worked towards the goal, “I can describe the geography and natural resources of the host country.” Taking an artistic, visual approach, Pilar’s class worked towards this goal through a project featuring all eight provinces in Andalucía.  The project required each group of 2 to 3 students to research and present a poster on one of the eight provinces.  In front of a colorful mural of Andalucía students practiced their Spanish presentation skills as they shared information about each province, including its significant landmarks, population, natural resources.

And who better to teach an Andalusian geography class than a native Andalusian? Pilar is one of our teachers at MIL Granada, and she is not only from Granada, but she also studied English and French translation at The University of Granada. In addition to teaching at MIL and at IES Abroad, Pilar and loves to play sports, dance, and travel.  Pilar’s history teaching in Granada shows through her and her student’s radiating appreciation for and knowledge of Andalucía.
