Checking In with the Arabic Academy

July 10, 2019

Language: Arabic

Location: Saint Michael’s College

What the Arabic Academy did today: Happy Wednesday! With only ten days (wow!) left until student departure, now is a great time to review those “Can do” statements that our students are working on each week. Here are the goals for our Arabic students this week:

Level One is exploring is food this week. Their can do statements include “I can identify and name 5-10 food items I eat” and “I can recognize cultural differences between the target countries and my own in reference to food and culinary preferences.”

Level Two’s themes of the week are sports, hobbies, and events. They are working on “I can write basic instructions on how to plan an outing with friends,” and “I can identify social do’s and don’ts in target country/countries.”

Level Three is learning about travel and tourism. Their can do statements include, “I can ask for and provide descriptions of places I know and places I would like to visit,” and “I can give a short presentation in which I describe several city attractions.”

This week, the entire Arabic Academy is participating in belly dancing workshops and looking forward to a field trip to the lake this weekend.
