Another journée fantastique with the French Academy!
Today we had a full plate of activities. Students continued to work hard in their morning lessons and afternoon cultural classes (this week features subjects such as Francophone Music, Normandy and French communities in America like Quebec and Louisiana!). In the afternoon we tie-dyed shirts with Elise, played tennis with Marcel and made friendship bracelets with Zoé outside in our courtyard. We also had a live streaming of the World Cup in France so students could tune into the USA vs. Belgium game (which was although a loss for our home country, a win for a Francophone one!). We finished with our evening assembly where Léa’s cultural class presented a square dance they created learning about Louisiana, and all classes presented skits relating to directions. Our students are now experts at giving directions around Swarthmore’s campus! We ended the night by singing along to our new team anthem “On est là” (We are here) which we will be presenting at the World Expo in a few weeks. Despite the rising heat, the French Academy is keeping a high energy and we are excited for what the rest of the summer has in store!
