What the Granada Academy did today

This morning some students went on an optional run, and had a full morning of classes.  Maria took her class out for morning tapas, and Carmen and Marilena’s class had a debate on the ability of organic crops to sustain the world’s population.

After lunch, students attended literature club, or the language exchange.  Today’s language exchange was about personal values, and students discussed where their own values came from (culture, family, etc).

In the afternoon, students had some free time in the city.  IES Director Javier led some students to Plaza Trinidad to visit one of the best ice cream shops of the city, and a small food store with typical ingredients and artisanal foods from Granada, like olive oil and spreads.  RA’s Lucas and Antonio took their residential groups out for the free churros they had earned for winning last week’s dance competition!

Later this afternoon, the Granada Academy had their second Academic Assembly!  All classes had a presentation of sorts to share what they had learned in the past two weeks.  Classes presented skits, videos, and powerpoint presentations.

Congratulations to Olivia Pepe, Sophia Hawthorne, Anna Whitney, Madison Underwood, Annia Cafferillo, Riley Winebrenner, Ruadh Mcguire, and Julia Diaz Canón for receiving the Granada Academy’s Academic Award! These individuals were nominated by their teachers for being exceptional students in the classroom!

The last event on today’s agenda was the Granada Academy’s first open mic of the month! Students and staff members performed songs and dances, including a rap and the Macarena.

We have such a talented Academy!
